RASSPIELRAUM A KATEŘINA SZYMANSKI: UNDER THE SURFACE
The project Under The Surface/ras Spielraum&Collective Waves reflects the issue of the coal mining and its negative consequences. It focuses on the present condition of post-mining landscapes regarding natural and social areas, it points out the capitalist patterns of behaviour that individuals and companies practice and the fact that we can hardly reach any change with this attitude. There is far enough scientific proof for inevitable change these days. No need to look for more. Time runs. With no hope, can we still dream of any change?
There shall be a need for collective understanding of terms and values that will have an impact on all forms of life on the Earth in the future. The body is a map of floating structures providing information about its condition and the environment it appears in.
In the work in progress performance the collective presents the mutuality of the body and the R programming language technology, which is designed for statistical analysis – its graphical image and sound transcription. This tool is common for most branches of statistics. Svobodová a Szymanski set the scale of “body-code“ and they use it to observe the disciplines/life/landscape/vegetal and animal environment parallels.
This live, performative project is rooted in the organicity of the human body, nature and the landscape. Kateřina Szymanski a Kristýna Svobodová experiment in between the field of art and science.
