MARTIN TALAGA: Soma

The human body stands at the very center of the production. The movement vocabulary is based on physical (im)possibilities. What is the body capable of expressing? And where are its limits?

Choreographer Martin Talaga’s project is inspired by visual art and the ideal of beauty throughout history as depicted in it.

A significant trend, present in the past but increasingly prevalent today, emphasizing external beauty over the richness of the inner world.

The performance therefore travels through white, cold galleries and exhibition spaces prepared for beauty, always differing in some way – in focus, number of performers, or depiction.

It draws inspiration from the space, its history, focus, or presence. Although the project was originally created as a part for three performers, it is now a much more open concept, adaptable to both the number and bodies of the performers.

The performance will be co-created as part of a workshop on the creative process in practice – Martin Talaga is exceptional in his ability to mix, break down, and adapt powerful ideas, formally thought-out games with friendly language for everyone. He is brilliant in how he can adapt the world and how we all like to believe him.
