CECILE DA COSTA: Circative – Learning through the circus

ProfitArt, Cécile Da Costa, Robert Janč

Circative is a method and a playground for movements, games, circus-inspired activities, and creativity. When we founded Circative, our primary goal was to bring movement into the heart of the classroom as an integral part of the curriculum.

After years of practice as a clown/physical actor for Robert, a dancer/choreographer for me, we knew how games, movements and creativity are essential not only for the well-being and global development of a person but also important for people who will have to find a place in a society that is constantly facing fast and complex changes.

Within the workshop, we work with coordination, collaboration, rhythm, improvisation, and mistakes. We will manipulate balls alone, in pairs, or in groups. We will balance objects in various ways and use rhythm to connect with one another. Most importantly, we will have a great time.

Instructors:

Cécile Da Costa – actress, dancer, singer, and teacher of French-Portuguese origin. She leads dance, voice, and movement workshops for professionals, schools, retirement homes, and people with Parkinson’s disease.

Robert Janč – Medical clown, actor, teacher (worked in a forest kindergarten for seven years). He has been leading social circus projects at the Health Clown organization for ten years. Thanks to these projects, he discovered that the circus has a magical power. The power to motivate, connect, and bring joy. This has been repeatedly confirmed in his work with children with mental and physical disabilities, in psychiatric wards, and in refugee facilities.
